Jessica is a director and producer who made her stage debut as Snow White in a primary school production at the sweet age of seven. Since graduating from the University of Southern Queensland with a Bachelor of Arts (Theatre Theory), she’s worked with organisations including the University of Melbourne, St. Martins Youth Theatre, Arts Access Victoria, Opera Australia and Frankston Arts Centre. She has devised new work with Accessible Arts NSW and Gaslight Festival/ Australian Theatre of the Deaf. Her previous two directing credits have both achieved sell-out seasons and have each been awarded Melbourne Fringe Festival awards (Best Emerging Producer, 2016; Access and Inclusion Award, 2017).
Ilana Charnelle Gelbart
Ilana is a stage and screen actress and Certified Provisional Auslan interpreter, gaining her NAATI accreditation in 2015. A graduate of Monash University’s Bachelor of Performing Arts, Ilana’s 2012 Honours thesis researched the use of Auslan in heightened moments of the human experience to create integrated bilingual theatre. Ilana has appeared in shows including ‘Blood Wedding’, ‘Loveplay’ and ‘The 39 Steps’, as well as festivals including Anywhere Theatre Festival (2015), Melbourne Fringe Festival (2014, 15, 17), Adelaide Fringe Festival (2015), and Melbourne Cabaret Fringe (2016). Ilana originated the role of Kat in Daniel Lammin’s controversial play, ‘The Cutting Boys’. Her reprisal of this role in 2014 was praised as, “the stand out performance…such skill that I still get goose bumps when I think of it” (source).
